Tamari Davis broke freshman national indoor records in the 60 meters and the 200 meters Saturday at the Dunamis Super Meet in Atlanta. The Gainesville FL ninth-grader ran 23.54 in the girls high school 200-meter prelims to break the record Friday and then lowered it in the finals with 23.42 to win the title.

Davis broke the 2007 record of Ashton Purvis. Her time Saturday also elevated her to US#1.

Davis, who set a world 14-year-old age-group outdoor 200 record by clocking 23.21 in May, competes for the Florida-based club team Empire Athletics.

In the 60 meters, Davis ran 7.30 in the Saturday prelims but did not run in the final. That surpassed the 2016 freshman class record held by Thelma Davies (7.37 seconds).
